The Star Wars Nintendo Switch Knights of the Old Republic remake is finally here but with many challenges. A few such as the cancellation of KOTOR 2’s DLC and a lawsuit might delay it. There are some sources that are doubting its existence.

However, a new report from the gamer.com suggests that the remake is still alive and is under development by some Aspyr staff. This contradicts the claim made by Jeff Grubb last week that the project was on hold. Sony removed the game’s trailer from its platform. The KOTOR remake is facing a lot of difficulties in 2023, but it seems that Sony is not abandoning it completely.

According to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, KOTOR’s remake is not entirely dead, contrary to some speculations. He said he spoke with two Saber Interactive developers who are currently involved in the project. He added that there are still many uncertainties about Star Wars’ status, including its release date and final appearance.

However, he disputes the claim that Star Wars is not in the development stage “in any way” at the moment.

Reiterating his earlier statement, Schreier confirms that the KOTOR remake is still very much alive. He shared this information on a Reset Era thread and later on Twitter, stating that he is aware of two developers at Saber Interactive who are actively involved in the project.

He also expressed his doubts that the remake will ever see the light of day, as it seems to lack a strong partner like Sony, who has apparently lost interest in it. Grubb previously reported that the company was canceling the remake. Schreier’s response to his tweet was simple: He was glad to hear the news. He continued to reiterate that the remake needs a partner like Sony to succeed. He suggested that maybe someone at Saber could pitch the project to another company.

In summary, the KOTOR remake is still alive, but we should not expect any official announcements anytime soon. It is still a troubled project that faces many challenges and uncertainties.
